Xiaomi CyberOne Gen 2 Reaches 98% Task Success Rate After 4 Months in Factory
Xiaomi's humanoid robot CyberOne Gen 2 has completed four months of deployment at its automotive factory, achieving a 98% success rate in screw-tightening tasks — just 1 percentage point below human performance. The robot has expanded to new logistics tasks including component sorting and box folding, both at 90% success rate.
On July 29, 2026, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun shared a video on social media showing a white humanoid robot at the Xiaomi EV factory performing a portable storage box folding task — picking up a box, folding it, and pushing the finished product aside. The video then cut to a selfie perspective, where a second black-bodied Xiaomi robot appeared and made a victory gesture toward the camera.
The demonstration marked a four-month milestone since Xiaomi's humanoid robots first entered the factory production line in March 2026. According to Xiaomi's official announcement on July 14, the robot's screw-tightening task success rate improved from 90.2% in the early testing phase to 98% — a figure that is just 1 percentage point below the human worker standard of 99%.
Beyond the original screw-tightening workstation, the robot has expanded to two new positions in the final assembly logistics area: center console side cover sorting and placement, and material box folding and recycling. Both tasks achieved stable success rates of 90%, validating the robot's ability to handle flexible, irregular-shaped parts over extended periods.
Lei Jun emphasized that the reliable, long-term handling of irregular, large, and flexible parts is the core challenge for deploying industrial robots on production lines. Xiaomi's robot has now achieved normalized operation in this scenario, and the company plans to continue expanding the robot's tasks within the factory, adding more production line test stations. Simultaneously, Xiaomi is advancing bionic dexterous hand and multi-robot collaborative operations for future deployment.
The progress positions Xiaomi as a serious contender in the industrial humanoid robot race. With Tesla Optimus having begun mass production in Q2 2026 and Unitree shipping over 5,500 units in 2025, Xiaomi's factory-first approach — leveraging its own manufacturing infrastructure — demonstrates a pragmatic path from prototype to production deployment.
